This summer, youth enjoyed a season full of hands-on learning, exploration, and meaningful community connections. From harvesting fresh produce in the garden and participating in daily greenhouse activities to field trips, water days, creative projects, and free play, campers had countless opportunities to learn, grow, and have fun.
One of the most impactful highlights of the summer was our Guest Speaker Series, which connected youth with inspiring community leaders and professionals. Students had the opportunity to learn from:
- Representative Latyna Humphrey
- Katherine Cull, Assistant Director of the Division of Community Engagement, City of Columbus
- Dr. Brittany Carter-Stewart, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
- Officer Nrique Love, Columbus Police Department
- Councilwoman Tiara N. Ross, City of Columbus City Council
- And many other dedicated community partners!
These guest speakers introduced students to a variety of career paths and important topics, including civic engagement, animal care, public safety, leadership, and community service. Through their stories and experiences, youth gained valuable insight into how they can make a difference in their communities and pursue their own goals and aspirations.

Students also enjoyed memorable animal encounters, meeting everything from furry friends to animals with scales. These experiences brought science and nature to life, helping youth connect classroom concepts with real-world learning in exciting and engaging ways.

As we reflect on the summer, we are grateful to our guest speakers, partners, volunteers, and families for helping create an experience filled with curiosity, confidence, joy, and lasting memories. When young people are surrounded by opportunity, support, and community, they thrive.
