Who It’s For
This program is offered through the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (also known as Cuyahoga DD) for people with developmental disabilities who are connected with the agency’s services and supports. The goal is to help individuals and families explore housing options that best fit their goals and needs.
📌 What the Program Offers
Cuyahoga DD connects you to a variety of housing opportunities and supports — tailored to individual abilities, independence levels, and long-term goals. Options highlighted include:
🏢 TryTech Apartments
A smart apartment experience in a mixed-community building where individuals can live short-term to test assistive technology and daily living tools that may help in independent living.
👨👩👧 Shared Living
An arrangement where someone with a developmental disability lives with a friend, family member, or trained community member who provides supports.
🏠 Living Alone
Support and planning guidance for those who aspire to live independently.
👨👩 Living with Family
Options to build independence and community engagement while staying within the family home.
👥 Living with Peers
Shared housing with peers as a way to share supports and living expenses.
🏡 Licensed or Group Settings
Housing options with structured supports, including community homes or licensed facilities, depending on individual needs.
💡 Is It Free?
Cuyahoga DD’s housing support services — including help exploring housing options and accessing programs — are part of the developmental disability services the board provides. These supports are available at no direct cost to people who are eligible and enrolled in Cuyahoga DD services.
However:
- Some housing options themselves (like apartments or shared living arrangements) may have rent or living expenses separate from the board’s support.
- Cuyahoga DD helps facilitate connections, planning, and individualized support based on needs, rather than directly paying housing costs.
👉 To access housing assistance and evaluate eligibility for Cuyahoga DD services, you must apply and complete an eligibility process.
