This month’s Faces of FACCES spotlights Jennifer Cancel and her two children, Jouseth and Ja’nae. Jennifer got involved with FACCES several years ago when she simply drove past the building during a family gathering, decided to check it out, and has been a FACCES family member ever since!
Jennifer shares that one of the most refreshing changes she has seen is her children’s excitement about school and FACCES activities. She loves seeing them eager to learn, participate, and get involved in events. “It’s like a family environment and that helps with everything,” Jennifer said.
This past summer, Jouseth attended the FACCES summer camp and absolutely loved the experience. Now that Ja’nae is old enough to participate as well, Jennifer is excited that both of her children can continue making memories in the summer program for years to come. “We had fun, we played a lot of games, and we ate really good food,” said Jouseth. He even shared some of the field trips they went on including visiting The Ohio State University football field, which is his favorite team.
Beyond programs for her children, Jennifer regularly attends FACCES family gatherings and takes full advantage of the resources available. She describes the support and sense of community as invaluable to her family. “I recommend everybody I know to come to FACCES. They’ll say ‘why’ and I just say ‘because, you won’t regret it. They will help you with everything’,” Jennifer said.
