This month, FACCES is proud to recognize the OSU Mount Leadership Society as our December Faces of FACCES. The Mount Leadership Society is a distinguished scholar program at The Ohio State University, rooted in leadership and service.
Since August of 2024, the scholars have actively and consistently contributed to the FACCES mission through hands-on service. Their volunteer work at our Fresh Market has helped us ensure that families across our community have access to fresh and nutritious food. This past summer, they also planted native trees across our campus, advancing our sustainability efforts and enhancing our environment for all who visit to enjoy.
The Mount Leadership Society Service Committee Chair, Miriam Myers, shared how this partnership began. “I was looking up different volunteering opportunities in Columbus and different centers and programs with resources that I thought were having some back-to-school events,” said Myers. “I came across FACCES and I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, this looks really good,’ and so I called. I had a good feeling about it, even when I first saw your guys’ page, I was like, ‘I think this is the one.’”
For Miriam, the connection to FACCES was instant. “I loved seeing all the people on the website and how you guys talk about the different ways you help the community and families, like well-being, mental health, food resources and stuff like that,” said Myers. Her initial instinct opened the door to a strong partnership with us, which continues to grow with each new service project.
We extend our gratitude to the Mount Leadership Society scholars for their ongoing commitment, compassion and service. Their efforts have strengthened our ability to serve families and support our community’s well-being.
