For Ariel Calhoun, finding a nurturing environment for her family has always been a priority. When her son Steven was born, she sought out a place that would support both his development and her growth as a parent. That search led her to FACCES, where she and her family have continued to grow, connect, and thrive together.
One of Ariel’s favorite parts of Steven’s journey at FACCES has been watching him learn to understand and manage his emotions, a skill she knows will benefit him for life. Ariel shares that because Steven has gained emotional intelligence and learned how to self-regulate at FACCES, she knows he will always be able to come talk to her at any age, with confidence and trust.
Beyond this, Ariel loves seeing Steven develop new interests, especially in gardening and cooking, as he begins to explore the world around him.
When asked about his favorite part of the FACCES Summer Program, Steven didn’t hesitate:
“Getting active with my friends instead of sitting in the house all day.”
For Ariel, this simple joy reflects something bigger. She values how FACCES emphasizes healthy interactions with families and the community, creating an environment where children and parents alike feel supported. In her words:
“FACCES never lost its sense of community. It’s always been family-oriented and community-based.”
Ariel’s story is a reminder that FACCES is more than programs and activities; it’s a generational community where families plant seeds, nurture growth, and build lasting legacies together.
