February 2026 Faces of FACCES: OSU Pre-Health Constellation

February’s Faces of FACCES spotlights the students of The Ohio State University Pre-Health Constellation (PHC) Student Organization. PHC is an student organization that brings together students interested or majoring in health professions who are also passionate about giving back to the community and serving others beyond the classroom.  The students of PHC have contributed to the FACCES’ Food Pillar in many meaningful ways, volunteering their time at events such as our Fresh Market and planting in the soil in our Urban Garden. Whether supporting food access efforts, or assisting community members directly, their commitment has made a lasting impact.  Rain, snow, or shine, PHC students consistently show up ready to help, demonstrating not only a dedication to service but also a deep understanding of the connection between community health and access to nutritious food.  Thank you to the many volunteers from PHC for your continued support and for helping FACCES thrive!

Community in Action: 2026 FACCES Community Partner Meeting Reflection

Our recent Community Partner Meeting was a powerful reminder of what happens when community comes together with purpose. Partners, collaborators, and changemakers filled the space with connection, shared vision, and a deep commitment to supporting children, youth, and families through the FACCES mission.  Throughout the meeting, we reflected on the heart of FACCES; our pillars of Food, Physical Health & Mental Wellness, Education, and Legacy Development and the ways our collective efforts continue to strengthen families and create lasting impact.  A special highlight of the gathering was the introduction of the 2024-2025 Community Partnership Awards, honoring individuals and organizations whose leadership, generosity, and dedication exemplify what it means to serve with intention and heart.  We explored opportunities to deepen collaboration, align resources, and expand our shared impact for children, youth, and families. This gathering reaffirmed that FACCES thrives because of the people who believe in community, collaboration, and creating brighter futures, together.  Missed the 2026 Community Partner Meeting or interested in getting

January 2026 Faces of FACCES: Kaiden and Derek

January’s Faces of FACCES are father-son duo, Kaiden and Derek Smith. Kaiden has been a part of the Life-Ready Teen (LRT) Program for two years, while his father Derek has volunteered alongside him.   While being an LRT, Kaiden has learned life skills that aren’t always taught in the classroom. From hands-on activities like cooking in our kitchen every Saturday, to direct community engagement such as passing out groceries during Fresh Market, FACCES has helped him build confidence and prepare for life beyond school. Kaiden shared that he used to be shy, however his time at FACCES has helped him break out of his shell by talking with different people and working directly with the community.   One of the pair’s favorite memories with FACCES, was the 2025 “March Dadness” event. Families and fathers from across the community come together in a supportive and energetic space. “When you’re raising a child, they say it takes a village… and FACCES has become that village,” said Derek.  We are grateful to
