Our community-raised fish and garden ingredients are taking center stage in our new seasonal cooking class series.
As the cooler weather settles in, it’s officially that time of year when we gather the last of the summer harvest, including the fish! What began as tiny fingerlings, just an inch long and weighing less than an ounce, grew into a healthy 5 pounds, and over a foot long fish.
Thanks to the dedication of our youth, families, and community partners, together, they fed them, weighed them, and helped maintain their tanks, proving that community care truly makes a difference. Because of everyone’s hard work, 83 fish were successfully harvested this season, and we’re excited to announce that they’ll be the star in your next exciting cooking experience at FACCES.
Many of you have asked when our classes are returning, and we’re thrilled to share that they’re coming back with a fresh twist. This year, you’ll be able to cook alongside our step-by-step video led by our Life Ready teens and Chef, using ingredients straight from the FACCES Urban greenhouse and garden. You’ll have the option to join us in person or cook from home with a box of fresh ingredients delivered straight to your doorstep.

There will be a cooking class for each season, giving your family a fun way to explore new recipes, bond, and learn about the nutritional benefits of seasonal foods, because we all know that health is wealth.
