More Than a Garden—It’s a Growing Experience
Earlier in April, over 100 tilapias found a new home at FACCES aquaponic system—and the community was there to welcome them! Thanks to a local fish farm-Freedom Fish Farm, families got to see the fish drop-off up close and learn how fish and plants grow together in a system that’s good for both our health and the environment.
That same day, FACCES hosted the Urban Gardeners Gathering, where families came together to learn, share, and enjoy time in the greenhouse. Marc Amante, our urban garden instructor from Central State University, led the conversation with simple tips on garden planning and composting. There was fresh pico de gallo, lots of laughs, and great conversations.
FACCES was awarded two grants—The Franklin County Urban Agriculture Critical Infrastructure Grant and the Columbus Foundation Community Garden Grant! This funding will provide more tools needed to improve the garden space and more education at the Urban Garden.

Families are also invited to take part in upcoming Urban Gardener’s Gatherings—great for connecting with others, learning new skills, and having fun outdoors. Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned grower, there’s a place for you at the FACCES Urban Garden. Let’s grow together!
